Winter weddings have their perks over the traditional spring/summer time ones. They’re generally cheaper and, in the right setting, the atmosphere can be magical.

But where should you go if you want that perfect winter wedding? We bring you 4 of the best venues from around the world.

1. The Icehotel - Jukkasjärvi, Sweden
It’s not for the faint hearted, but if you can stand the sub-zero temperatures, you’d be hard pushed to find a more beautiful setting for a winter wedding. The Ice Church – which opens on 26 December - is rebuilt each year after the warmth of the summer months melts it away, so if you’re looking for something memorable, look no further.

2. Central Park - New York, USA
A visit to the Big Apple is on most people’s hit list, so make yours extra special. No winter wedding setting is more beautiful than Central Park in the snow, so if you’re a fan of the great outdoors or have always pictured yourself getting married in a naturally beautiful setting, this may be the one for you!

3. Black Church – Budir, Iceland
If you’re eloping to cut out all the usual wedding complications and politics for a day that’s just about you and your partner, you might want to consider this stunning, intimate church in Iceland. The area is so remote, the only other building in the vicinity is a hotel which you and your guests can enjoy after the ceremony.

4. Lake district – Cumbria, UK
Looking for something a bit closer to home? You don’t get much more peaceful than the Lake District. Surrounded by natural beauty, you can choose from many venues in the area to tie the knot. Whether you’re looking for a stylish hotel or a rustic barn, you’re guaranteed to find it here. Plus, it’s home to some amazing walking trails for some much needed alone time the next day.
